I loved the pensive look on this calf’s face as he quenched his thirst - raising his head periodically to gaze out in what seem like deep in thought.  A very dear friend sent me the photo of this lad that the painting was based.  I’m not sure the background of this little calf.  Guessing though, and because of my friend’s family raising Beefmasters, I assume he is that usual mix of 25% Hereford, 25% Milking Shorthorn, and 50% Brahman.  Although generally solid in color, they can have some light mottle on the face.  In any event, he looks adorable with those gorgeous, large brown eyes, and big ears with water dripping slightly from his mouth.
